Staff Changes
We are delighted to introduce three new additions to our team this month:
Dr. Greshame Carr – A highly experienced GP, Dr. Carr joins us on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Karin van Kuppevelt – Karin has taken on the role of our new Practice Manager. She brings a wealth of experience and will be instrumental in helping to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
Sarah Clarke – Sarah is our new Health Coach, dedicated to supporting our patients on their health journeys and empowering them to achieve their wellness goals.
We would also like to take a moment to thank Claudine, our Health Improvement Practitioner, who has now finished with the practice. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors. We are currently in the process of recruiting a replacement and will keep you updated.

Advanced Care Planning
An Advanced Care Plan (ACP) is a document where you outline your healthcare preferences if you're ever unable to communicate them yourself. It ensures that your wishes are respected when it matters most.
Why Should You Consider an ACP?
An ACP helps you:
Express your preferences about end-of-life care and medical treatments.
Appoint a trusted person to make decisions on your behalf.
Ensure your healthcare aligns with your values.

Managing Seasonal Allergies
As the seasons change, many people in Canterbury experience seasonal allergies, often triggered by pollen from plants like trees, grasses, and weeds. These allergies can cause symptoms such as sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose, and congestion.
Why Do Seasonal Allergies Happen?
In Canterbury, the spring and summer months bring higher levels of pollen, especially from plants like ryegrass and pine trees. For some, this can lead to allergic reactions that affect their daily lives.
Managing Symptoms:
Stay indoors during high pollen times (early mornings and evenings).
Keep windows closed and use air conditioning to filter air.
Use antihistamines or nasal sprays to relieve symptoms—ask your Pharmacist or GP for recommendations.
Wash hands and change clothes after being outside to remove pollen.
If you’re struggling with seasonal allergies, it’s a good idea to talk to your GP. We can help you identify triggers and find the best treatment options.

Well App And Patient Web Portal
Have you registered on the practice app? Access online booking/viewing your lab results and order repeat prescriptions… Visit the app store on your smartphone, download the well app and enter code SMSILV……. You can also access the patient portal from our website as well as through the APP. As well as accessing the patient portal from the Well app on your mobile device, you can also access the portal from your computer’s web browser. All the same functionalities will be available on both the app and web, including:
• Book and manage appointments
• Request repeat prescriptions
• Check laboratory results
How to get started If you are not currently using the Well app, you can now either register on your computer or you can download and register on the app.
1. On your computer, visit: https://silverstreammedical.centrik.co.nz/portal/#/ OR On your mobile, download ‘Well NZ’ on the App Store or Google Play
2. Select ‘Create Account’ and enter the invite code: SMSILV
3. Enter your details – these must match what we hold on file ie. same email and password you use for the app.
